What Makes Ceramic Tiles Suitable for Bathrooms and Kitchens?

There are many reasons why ceramic tiles are suitable for both the bathroom and the kitchen. To start with, they are very easy to clean, and since these rooms see a lot of foot traffic, splashed water, and stain risks, they’re a good choice as both wall tiles and floor tiles.

Ceramic tiles are generally among the cheapest tiles available as well, and this makes them suitable for bathrooms and kitchens, as you’ll be able to tile a larger space while keeping your costs low.

You’ll also find loads of variety when looking at ceramic tiles, too. This means that you’re not limited to a certain colour scheme or pattern, allowing you to decorate your bathroom or kitchen exactly as you want.

Ceramic tiles are also very hard wearing, and if cared for properly, they can have a life span of up to 75 years. This makes them a great choice if you’re designing a kitchen or bathroom that you want to last for decades to come.

What Colour Ceramic Tiles Work Best?

As ceramic tiles come in such an extensive selection of colours and patterns, the best colour for your project will ultimately depend on what you want to achieve.

For those who want to create a modern, clean, or minimalist look, we’d recommend choosing ceramic tiles in shades of these colours:

  • White
  • Cream
  • Beige
  • Light grey
  • Blue

People looking to create a welcoming or relaxing space might want to choose ceramic tiles in natural and warm tones, such as:

  • Orange
  • Brown
  • Green
  • Navy blue
  • Dark grey
  • Gold

Or, if you’re looking to make a bold statement with flashes and pops of colour, you might want to choose ceramic tiles in these colours:

  • Red
  • Purple
  • Pink
  • Teal
  • Yellow

How Do You Keep Ceramic Tiles Clean?

Keeping ceramic floor tiles and wall tiles clean is really easy, and daily cleaning with a non-corrosive spray and non-abrasive sponge will keep them looking good. You will, however, need to give them an occasional deep clean to prolong their life, and you can do this by following these steps:

  1. Dust: Take a microfiber duster and, working in a circular motion, dust all of your tiles. This will trap the dust and stop it from settling elsewhere in the room.
  2. Wash: Next, fill a bucket with warm water and a bleach-free, ammonia-free detergent. Take a non-abrasive sponge and use this mixture to clean your tiles, continuing to work in a circular motion.
  3. Dry: Finish up by taking a clean microfibre cloth and drying each tile. Again, use a circular motion to do this, as this will prevent water spots and streaks, leaving your tiles looking gleaming and beautiful.
