What makes a bathroom tile slip-resistant?

When choosing bathroom flooring, safety should be your number one priority. Slippy floors are the leading cause of bathroom injuries, so it’s important to choose tiles that will help keep you safe.

Look for items with a high COF slip resistance rating. The friction between two dry, clean objects is usually rated on a scale from 0.3 to 0.6, with zero meaning no friction. Very slippery items can have ratings as low as 0.04.

Our nonslip bathroom tiles are made from the highest quality materials and are designed to provide maximum grip, even when wet. You can also apply Aqua-Seal Grip-It T Anti-Slip Treatment to any of our tiles for an extra layer of protection.

FAQ

How do you clean non-slip tiles?

Liberally sprinkle some washing powder over the flooring. Submerge a brush with hard bristles into warm water. In smaller areas, scrub diligently until most of the grime is no longer visible. Once completed, go over it with a sponge to make sure you didn’t miss any spots. For more information, click here.

How do you make bathroom tiles non-slip?

Aqua-Seal Grip-It T is a slip-resistant treatment that can be used on a variety of surfaces to improve traction and help prevent slips and falls.

To use Grip-It T, start by sweeping, vacuuming, or wiping the surface to ensure it is clean and dry. Then, pour Grip-It T into a plastic container and apply it evenly to the surface with a sponge, brush, or mop. Be sure not to spray the product directly onto the surface, and do not allow it to dry.

After each 5-minute “dwell period,” test the amount of slip resistance created by scuffing the surface with your shoe or a gloved hand. When the desired level of slip resistance has been achieved, rinse off thoroughly with clean water. Repeat the process as needed.

Are non-slip tiles popular for bathrooms?

Totally! Anti-slip tiles offer complete protection and safety against slipping, making them ideal for use on any bathroom floor. It can also be used in any wet areas such as the kitchen and laundry area.

Are non-slip tiles difficult to clean?

Although you may have heard that anti-slip floor tiles are much harder to clean hygienically than other types of flooring, this simply isn’t the case. Non-slip floors (often found in bathrooms) can be more difficult to clean overall but only require slightly more effort than common tile flooring when cleaning.
