Why Are Natural Stone Tiles a Good Choice for Kitchens & Bathrooms?
The old phrase “nature provides” comes to mind when looking at why natural stone tiles are so good for kitchens and bathrooms, as they boast a plethora of qualities that make them ideal for these spaces.
Firstly, natural stone tiles are incredibly durable. Granite and slate are particularly hardwearing and can withstand heavy footfall, daily wear and tear, and moisture, making them a perfect choice for these high traffic areas.
Natural stone tiles are also naturally water-resistant, and when properly sealed, you’re able to enhance this quality and create floors and walls that are unlikely to stain or develop water damage over time.
Tiles made from natural stones are also typically heat-resistant, which makes them a good choice for kitchen countertops where hot pans and cooking equipment are in regular use and for splashbacks where boiling water is likely to hit them.
What Colour Natural Stone Tiles Work Best?

The best way of cleaning natural stone is to use a pH-neutral detergent that is free from any bleach or harsh chemicals mixed with warm water, wiping them with a soft cloth in a circular motion.
You should then dry the tiles with a clean microfibre cloth and, every so often, apply a sealer to help prevent stains and make the natural stone more resistant to spills, water damage, and dirt. Regular sweeping is also important if you’ve laid natural stone tiles on your floors, as this will prevent them from getting scratched.
